Deer is where Whyte Farming Company began.

Donald's first love has always been deer, and so when he and Leigh purchased Edendale in 1986, they set about converting the high country sheep farm into a highly productive deer unit.

Now the farm now runs 5000 deer, including a red velvet herd, Elk, Wapiti terminal animals and fallow deer.

The farm holds its annual stag sale on farm in January.
