Who Are We?
Meet the Whyte Farming Team
Donald & Leigh Whyte
Donald and Leigh started Whyte Farming Company together and have both been hands on with the business since its inception.
Donald has loved deer since he was a child. When he was young he hunted them, then moved into live helicopter capture and now owns one of New Zealand’s biggest deer farms farming 5,000 deer. He has a passion for progress, and the Whyte Farming enterprise now also runs an Angus beef stud, a fine wool half-bred sheep flock and a red velvet herd, alongside world class Elk and Fallow deer herds.
Leigh manages all of the businesses finances, as well as working on the farm as required, and being Granny to her five grandchildren.
Glen & MJ Whyte
Glen and MJ live at Mt Possession Station in the Ashburton Lakes area and farm deer, cattle and bison in the high country.
At Mt Possession their focus is on deer velvet production and high-quality venison animals, as well as world class trophy stags.
On their finishing farm in Alford Forest, they raise 1,400 venison weaners, 450 R2 Angus steers, and cross-bred lambs each year.
They live on Edendale Station with their daughters, Grace and Morgan, making them the third generation of Whyte's to call the homestead home.
Angela & Regan Blair
Angela and Regan live at Parkhurst Farm near Woodbury, Canterbury and together they farm deer, sheep and cattle.
At Parkhurst, they specialise in deer velvet production and high-quality venison animals.
Angela and Regan have strong family values and include their children in many different aspects of farm life, from raising young animals by hand to helping move animals to fresh pastures to putting deer through the shed.
Ryan & Sarah Hussey
Ryan and Sarah Hussey live on Hakatere Station where Ryan is the General Manager of the sheep and beef unit and the Mt Possession Angus stud.
Hussey Farming has had a long partnership with Whyte Farming. Ryan's broad experience and intuitive understanding of the complex farming systems are a valuable asset to the Whyte Farming business and an integral part of running the sheep and beef station.
Their daughters, Emma and Bridget, both enjoy being on farm, with Bridget shepherding alongside her dad.
